CESC FABREGAS HOPING FOR EARLY RETURN TO ARSENAL ACTION
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has revealed that his recovery from injury is going well and that he is hoping to return to first team action ahead of schedule.
The Spaniard injured knee ligaments during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool back in December in a tackle with compatriot Xabi Alonso.
Initial reports suggested Fabregas would miss the majority of the season with his return pencilled in for April, but it now appears to may return to action before then.
Writing in his programme notes before Arsenal’s game with West Ham United yesterday, he confirmed, “My leg is getting stronger and the doctors tell me that the ligament has healed.
“Now it is about building up the muscle and on Thursday I had a very little jog for the first time, so it is good news and I am happy because I can see a big improvement.
“I will take it step by step, but hopefully I can come back earlier than first expected. However, let's wait and see.”
Fabregas has been recuperating in Spain but also revealed he would be returning to London shortly and at that time would be able to set a date for his return to action.
He explained, “I will be coming back to England in two weeks' time and, after being assessed by the physios, we will set a target date for my return.”
The news will be a huge boost to manager Arsene Wenger, who has struggled with injuries this season.
Fabregas is currently joined on the sidelines by such key names as Eduardo, Mikael Silvestre, Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott.
yeah! this is cheering news ya all gunners...
